Lane's Primitive Forms - Reference Pack
1850+ Compositions of Primitive Forms
This reference collection has been an on-going side project for the past few years. It began as a much smaller pack which I made for my painting students. The reference proved incredibly useful for study and practice of fundamental skills, so I decided to expand it greatly.
Each scene is carefully composed by myself, for use by artists.
Why study primitive forms?
These represent a range of the most basic structures in nature. As such, they are the fundamental building blocks of more complex subjects. The more familiar you are with the primitive forms the easier it will be to make sense of, and simplify, more intricate subjects.
Primitive forms are especially great for the study of light and shadow. They allow us to observe clearly how light interacts with the surfaces, without added distraction or complexity.
